• Plant based crystals you can wear. ALCHEMY is a contemporary jewellery collection of experimental materials that defies the terms perfectionism and mass production.

The cooperative project was initiated by material designer Katalin Huszár with the aim of showing the unique beauty that nature can offer us. It was a 2 year journey until we finally got the results we’d been dreaming of: an organically made Tiffany stained glass jewellery collection with plant based crystals for the conscious customer. The project focuses on a natural phenomenon, the process of crystallisation. The work shows the relationship between the unpredictability of nature and human intervention. The main ingredients of the project are from pharmacies. Raw materials such as caffeine, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), tartaric acid, salicylic acid can be found in plants, in nature. Each tincture used creates a unique pattern on glass surface. Depending on the type, the textures of the grown crystals vary between a more geometric or fluffy surface.

The project captures the potential of each crystal and demonstrates their phenomenon in different contexts. The resulting surface is influenced by a number of factors, such as the dilution of the solution or the shape of the glass used as a starting material.

Thanks to the unpredictable appearance of crystals emerging from the solutions, each piece has a unique character. Each piece is organically handmade from responsibly sourced and recycled materials and crystals, adding a sophisticated touch to your outfit. •
